CLERK, GEORGE [SSNE 4958]
Text source
George Clerk was the preacher to the Scottish and English communities in Bergen-op-Zoom between 1626-1643. He may well have began his ministry earlier. The civic authorities believed he had been underpaid by the English captains there. Extant letters shoe the nature of these complaints. The English for their part felt Clerk had not served them properly. Non the less he remained "Predikant van di Schotten" until at least 1643.A. C.
