Christian Dunbar is listed was a nobleman from Skane who had long served in foreign service (9/7/1664 to 1676). Dunbar was a sublieutenant in Swedish service from June 1669. He is listed as ship's captain from March 1674 to 1/6/1676. In October 1675 he captained the 'Herkules' in admiral Stenbock's fleet. He died on 1 June 1676 while serving as first captain on admiral Creutz's ship 'Kronan'. If he was indeed a nobleman from Skane then he must have been the son of Patrick Dunbar and Maren Munk. Patrick had been naturalised as a Danish gentleman in 4/5/1638 under the name of Spannerup in Skane.Swedish military archives, Biografiska Anteckningar om Officerare vid Orlogsflottan 1600-1699, p.129; Meritforteckningar (Flottan); A.
