Mathias Forbes was the son of colonel Ernst Forbes [no. 2230] who died in 1677 [and is buried in Abo Cathedral]. He went to Uppsala University in 1681. After his studies, Mathias joined the army and became the regimental quartermaster in the Abo regiment, but later held the same rank in the Nylands och Tavastehus läns fördubbl. Kav. Regiment. by 1700. Some sources say he was dead by 1711, others that he lived until 1748. He had many sisters including Sofia Helena, Brita, Anna, Elsa and Christina.
