LESLIE, JURGEN [SSNE 3981]
Text source
George/Jurgen Leslie served as a drummer in Alexander Leslie's [SSNE 2916] regiment in Russia 1632-1634. One Georgen Leslie is mentioned in the Swedish diplomatic correspondence from 1634, but it is not clear if it is the same man. Speculatively, it is worth observing that a Jurgen Leslie owned the Sackhof estate near Narva between 1639-1651. That estate later passed on to Captain Alexander Leslie [SSNE 7201]. It is not yet certain that the drummer and estate owner were the same manD. Fedosov, The Caledonian Connection (Aberdeen, 1996); Swedish Riksarkiv, Muscov: leg. With thanks to Hilkka Kesiƶ-Lairila, Kouvola, Finland for the information relating to Sackhof.
