Michael Edwards first appears in Norway as part of Colonel James Wilson's [SSNE 116] recruited regiment where he was a captain from 13 June until 8 August 1644. He then became a major in the Tyske Dragoner of the Norwegian army, from August until December 1644. He served in the Cavalry regiment commanded by Colonel Frederik Willumsen at the defence of Båhus fort. In July 1645 Hannibal Sehested wrote to Edwards in German regarding the completion of a squadron. They were later ordered to the north after the peace of Brømsebro, 13 August 1645
