SEATON, JOHN [SSNE 3479]
Text source
John Seaton entered Swedish service as a page at the Court of Queen Kristina in 1637 and remained there until 1641. Thereafter he served as an ensign with the Uppland regiment in 1642 and became a lieutenant in Hugo Hamilton's [SSNE 2582] regiment on 30 June 1645. He was still in service in June 1654 as he was then summoned to answer a case brought against him by one Jonas Rask. This is probably the same Johan Seaton who attended the Riksdag in 1654. This may also be the lieutenant-colonel Seaton who became involved in a street fight around 19 July 1654 which left Seaton unable to walk homeSwedish Krigsarkiv, Muster Roll, 1642/3 FROM REFORMED,15-19; 1643/4; 1644/2; 1645/3; 1646/2; 1647/3; 1648/2,16-18; 1649/2,11,17,18; 1650/4; 1651/3; 1652/3; 1653/2; 1654/2; Several letters can be found in 'Krigskollegium Kancelliet; Adressatregistratur till Krigskollegiets Registratur 1631-1654' including "fullmakt att vara löjt under col Hugo Hamilton reg och kapt Bjorn Svinhufvuds komp 30/6/1645"; "att här i Uppsala komparera och svara till det Jonas Rask emot honom har att tala 6/3/1654"; Register till Sveriges Ridderskaps och Adels Riksdags Protokoll, 17 vols, (Stockholm, 1910) vol. for 1654; P.
