William Ruthven was a Scottish officer in Swedish service. He was a captain first in Patrick Ruthven's [SSNE 3413] then in John Ruthven's [SSNE 191] regiment from 1631-1632. Possibly the Major Ruthven noted by Monro as being slain at Nordlingen in 1634R.
