James Macinerkiny was a representative of the king of Great Britain who was first in Spanish service, then served as a lieutenant and captain in Dutch service. He came to Denmark in 1675 as a volunteer in the navy. In 1676 he was a captain in Jyske infantry regiment under Christoffer Otto Schack. He was captured in northern Germany while trying to complete his company. In the end he disappeared with 456 rixdollars of Danish public money granted to him for recruiting purposes.
