Major Jacob Louson started his Swedish military career as a lieutenant in Hamilton's recruited infantry regiment in 1642. He transferred to the Lifeguard in 1645 and the following year he became a captain. After a brief spell in the dragoons, Louson joined the Osterbotten's regiment in 1647, but left by 7 April only to be reinstated by 23 of the same month. He was later to be found as a captain in the Helsinge regiment in 1650.
