Text source

John Hamilton was a lieutenant colonel in Alexander Hamilton's [SSNE 380] regiment in the Swedish army in 1632. This may be the same as SSNE 2595, and may also be the Lieutenant Colonel Hamilton murdered and robbed by peasants in October or November 1632 near Halle (Saxe-Anhalt) while part of the entourage of Marquis James Hamilton [SSNE 1348]. This is deduced as he is the only person of appropriate rank who leaves the historical record in 1632.
