An Ensign John Drummond served in James Spens'[SSNE 1642] regiment in 1629. He was later in Robert Leslie's [SSNE 2932] infantry regiment in 1631. From 1631 a Lieutenant Drummond appears in Patrick Ruthven's [SSNE 3413] regiment and in 1632 a lieutenant captain served with Robert Monro [SSNE 94]. They are likely to have been the same individual. Monro's regiment served at Nordlingen in September 1634 and lost many men. The author of "The Modern History" noted that among the Scottish officers killed was one Captain Drummond, which may have been this man.
