Johan Forbes of Lund was the son of James Forbes [SSNE 779] and Lillieram Chesnecopherus though it is not clear if he was born in Scotland or Sweden. He was grandson of Henry Forbes of Thainstone. He arrived in Stockholm in 1632. He became a student in Uppsala in May 1645. After completing his studies he joined the Swedish army serving first as an ensign in William Forbes' recruited infantry regiment. Between 1651-1655 he served in the same regiment as a captain. He was married to Beata Bille in 1670 in her second marriage. Johan lived until 1676 but died childless. He had several brothers and sisters including Peter [SSNE 6343], Olof [SSNE 2251], Jacob [SSNE 375], Henrik [SSNE 2235] and Nils [SSNE 2250].
