Sir Henry St George (1581-1644) alias Richmond Herald served as Garter King-of-Arms of England in 1627. On 18 May 1627 a warrant was created to pay Henry "30s per diem for diet and reward, from April 28, with an advance of 60l. and also to allow him, on his return, for posting, transportation and other extraordinaries". Henry accompanied Sir James Spens [SSNE 1642] on his embassy to the Swedish Court in Prussia in 1627 in order to deliver the Order of St George to the Swedish king, and where he was subsequently knighted (along with Spens and several other Scottish colonels) by King Gustav II Adolf of SwedenRegister of the Privy Council of Scotland, second series, vol II, 1627-1628, Edinburgh, 1900, p.559.
