Robert Burt began as an ensign in Gustaf Horn's Norrland regiment and became a lieutenant in 1624. Some German sources believe he came from Finland (Pleiss) while most state Scotland. Then he was a lieutenant in Jakob Duwall's [SSNE 1623] Norrland regiment. He joined Sempel's [maybe Captain John Sempel SSNE 184] squadron in the Uppland regiment. He then joined Axel Duwall's[SSNE 2446] squadron of the Uppland regiment. He is then noted as a captain and then quartermaster of Uppland regiment. In July 1631 King Gustav II Adolf wrote to him, as quartermaster, appointing Burt as commandant of Alten-Brandenburg. His last rank appears to have been lieutenant colonel and commander of the fortress Marienberg above Wuerzburg. Burt died in either March 1632 or February 1633.Swedish Riksarkiv, P.
