Wallace is listed as governor (commandant?) at Jamagorod in Ingermanland, a fortress taken during King Johan III's war with Russia over possessions in Estonia and Livonia. Wallace was ordered to arm the fortress with the building master. Jamagorod was lost to the Russians again in 1590
