Johan Anders Stuart was the son of Anders Stuart 'the younger' [SSNE 1647], court gentleman to Queen Kristina. This may be the same Johan Stuart listed as born in Sweden in July 1628 who subsequently became a gentleman of the chamber for Karl X Gustav, and also commandant at Johannisborg Castle (confer [SSNE 3626]). It was perhaps he who matriculated at Uppsala University along with Magnus Stuart [SSNE 216] in 1644. He has also been put forward as a possible candidate for the Swede called John Stuart who graduated from Oxford in July 1655, although the other contender, Johan Robert Stuart (1643-1698) [SSNE 3628], is more likely.
