Thomas Buchanan served as an envoy to Denmark-Norway from 1570-1 in order to obtain the release of Captain John Clark and the punishment of Bothwell. In May 1571 he borrowed 65 daler from Captain Gilbert Young [SSNE 353], who had not been paid in October 1574
