Christopher Galloway is said by Jeremy Howard to have been of 'mysterious background'. He was probably descended from Christopher Galloway, a burgess in Haddington, East Lothian. He was designated "Master of Horological and Hydrolic Matters" and constructed a clock for the Spasskii [or the Saviour's] Tower in the Kremlin wall.J. Howard, 'The Scottish Kremlin Builder.
