The OE text is found uniquely in the eleventh-century London, British Library, Cotton Vitellius D. xvii. The Latin text printed by Pulsiano is found in two closely-related copies of the Cotton Corpus legendary, from Salisbury and Worcester respectively. Pulsiano prints a composite text drawing on both these copies. It is clear from the comments which accompany each entry that the Latin text printed by Pulsiano is often substantially different from that used by the author of the OE text. The text printed by Mombritius is close in many respects to Pulsiano and it rarely has better readings. Matthews, in her unpublished 1966 thesis, transcribed a Latin text which is often closest to the OE version, but she records 69 pages of variant readings from a further 20 Latin texts in manuscripts which, apart from the Salisbury Cotton Corpus MS, have no associations with Anglo-Saxon England. Matthews rarely records a reading which is found in the Salisbury MS (then Oxford, Bodleian Library, Fell 1), although there are occasions when this MS contains a better reading than that in Matthews' text. Matthews identifies the manuscripts with groups A, B and C, and concludes that the MS used by the Anglo-Saxon author must have been derived from a common original of the MSS in groups B and C.
Lines 16-18 of OE text (after which there is a folio lost from the manuscript) seem to correspond to the reading '...ut eum omnem artem medicine doceret', found in the version printed by Matthews 1966, 132.11-12.
