Comment:: The motif of sinners being grouped according to their sin in Hell seems to be a commonplace (cf. e.g. Ps-Augustine PL 40 1354, Ps-Isidore PL 83 1224, Pirmin PL 89 1046, Haymo PL 118 491 and 559). Ps-Ambrose is in some respects the closest since it shows parallels with Aelfric's preceding clauses, including a reference to Mc 9.43., but it lacks the equivalent to 'gitseras' which appears in some other versions of the topos.
