Comment:: The edited text of Jerome's commentary on Matthew gives Vade as the reading of Mt 4.10 but some MSS have Vade retro, which was presumably what Aelfric saw. The letter by Jerome on the different Biblical readings here to which Aelfric refers has not been traced; he conceivably means the commentary. For the etymology, he presumably had a version of either Haymo or Jerome on Ephesians which read deorsum ruens for deorsum fluens.
