Manuscript:: There is no evidence for MS circulation in England; but nor is there evidence fo MS circulation of Einhard's Vita Karoli Magni, which Asser definitely used.
Comment:: A 'curiously similar … account', Keynes and Lapidge 1983. Asser might have learned of the Vita Alcuini from Frankish scholars at Alfred's court.
