Gregory provides a close parallel for the idea of the blessed and wicked seeing each other but not for their both seeing God, a heterodox idea which may be Alfred's own expansion of Gregory's points or, just conceivably, an adaptation of the idea that the wicked will see Christ at the Last Judgement (cf Wallace 1990).
