Comment:: Remley notes the likelihood of an Old Latin influence on line 179a, 'byman stefne', and 180b, 'on cneowum sætan'. Both he and Anderson suggest Dn 3.5 is the source here, though this is not likely, as the poem resumes after the loss of a leaf with the description of the idolatry rather than the king's command to participate in it.
