Born c. 1708 eldest son of Sir James Gray, Bt. [baronet] and Hester Dodd.

Career

Educated at Cambridge University - M.A. 1729.

British minister [politician] to Naples 1753-1761. Spain 1761-1773. Founder member of Society of Dilettanti who possess a portrait. Procured a set of the Herculaneum prints from the King of the Two Sicilies for the University of St Andrews.
