Educated at Glasgow University - LL.D 1844.
United Associate and United Presbyterian minister in Glasgow at Cambridge Street 1835 - 1863. Lansdowne 1863 - 1876. Professor of Biblical Literature 1845 - 1847 and Hermeneutics 1847 -1876 to the Associated Synod and United Presbyterian Church. [Minister, university professor]
