Birth/childhood

Baptised 30.12.1842 son of William Younger, Inspector of the Poor, Ceres and Agnes Wemyss.

Career

Abandoned intended career in Indian Civil Service to work as a machinist in Elder’s shipyard. Rapidly promoted to draughting department. Emigrated in 1872 to Philadelphia where he entered Cramps Shipyard where he rose to be consulting engineer.

Death

Died at Philadelphia [U.S.A.] 27.4.1894.
