Also studied Edinburgh University - arts student then divinity student 1837-1839.
Headmaster Niddrie Street School, Edinburgh 1828-1840.
English master Madras College, St Andrews 1840-1853 (retired to Edinburgh). After retirement was Superintendent Greenside Parish Sunday School. [Teacher]
Author of the hymn ‘There is a happy land’. Published volume of poems. F.R.S.E. 1881.
Death
Died 30.11.1889.
