Went to America 1765. Tutor College of Philadelphia from 1766. Admitted to bar 1767. Practised Reading then Carlisle. Speculated in land. Moved to Philadelphia 1778. Signatory to United States Declaration of Independence. Played an important part in establishing federal constitution. [Lawyer]
