Born c. 1756 in Ireland probably near Letterbreen, Co. Fermanagh [County Fermanagh], son of John White, farmer and [ ] Lendrum.

Surgeon’s Mate, Royal Navy 1778. Surgeon 1786 and chief surgeon to expedition to establish a penal colony in Australia. There as Surgeon General to 1794. Resigned from Navy in 1796. Surgeon Sheerness 1799 - 1803. Chatham 1803-1820 (retired). [Doctor]
Published Journal of voyage to New South Wales(translated into German, Swedish and French).
Death
Died at Worthing 20.2.1832.
