Career

Free merchant Bombay [now Mumbai, India] 1763-1786. returned with a large fortune. Director East India Company [Honourable East India Company] 1788 - 1802 (resigned). [Soldier]

Succeeded to Dunninald. Disponed Tweedsmuir patronage to St Mary’s College, 1803. [Landowner]

M.P. for Angus 1790-1796. Dundee, Perth & Forfar burghs 1791 - 4.10.1805 (died). [Politician]
