Attended Edinburgh High School.

Studied Edinburgh and Bonn Universities [Edinburgh University, Bonn University].

Taught Liverpool for some years. [Teacher]

English master, Edinburgh Academy 1873-1878. Rector Kirkcaldy High School 1878 - 1906 (retired).

Died at Kinnesswood 4.9.1911 aged 80.
