Career

Licensed by St Andrews presbytery 1846.

Minister Dunfermline North 1849-1850 (resigned). Chaplain to garrison of Stirling Castle 1855-1863. Prime mover in erection of Wallace monument. Founder of Grampian Club. Claimed to be founder of Royal Historical Society.
