Birth/childhood

Born c. 1801 son of Lauchlan Ritchie, shoemaker/wright, Ayrshire and Jessie McFarlane.

Career

Studied Glasgow University - matriculated 1823.

Ordained 1834 in the Relief church at Auchtergaven. Minister Berwick 1834-1859 then Bovey Tracey, Liskeard, Plympton 1872-1875 and London, Acton 1876-1879 as a Congregational minister. Missionary at Joppa. Lived in various places in semi-retirement having studied medicine.

Death

Died at Chesterfield House, Anstruther 30.11.1882.
