Born 1739 said to be the son of John Reid of Barra, Aberdeenshire.

Career

Studied Marischal College, Aberdeen 1755 and King’s College, Aberdeen - said to be M.A. Studied medicine in Edinburgh 1762. [Medical student]

In 1779 was said to have been a navy surgeon in the ‘last war’.

Practised London and Ramsgate. [Doctor]

Inherited a large estate and relinquished practice. Took name of Caldecott. Resided at Holton Lodge near Wragby, Lincs. [Lincolnshire]. [Landowner]
