Born July 1807 son of [?John] Paterson, ?wheelwright, St Andrews and [ ].

Career

Also at Haileybury College.

Ordained missionary to Calcutta 21.12.1831at Congregational Church, St Andrews. Arrived Calcutta 1832. Went to Berhampur, where his wife Isabella Paterson (? From Lauder) died in 1847.

Returned to Britain and remarried. Sailed again for India in 1850. Worked for Calcutta tract society. Second wife died 24.5.1853.

Death

Died on the Ganges [India], while on a missionary journey to Dacca 10.12.1854.
