Career

Studied Göttingen University - Ph.D. and Edinburgh University - B.Sc. 1866, M.B. C.M. 1867, D.Sc. 1867, M.D. 1869.

Lecturer in Natural History Extra-academical school of medicine, Edinburgh 1869-1871. Professor of Natural History, Toronto University 1871-1874. Professor of Comparative Anatomy and Zoology, Royal College of science, Dublin 1874, but did not accept. Professor of Biology, Durham College of Physical Sciences 1874-1875. Professor of Natural History Aberdeen University 1882 - 19.1.1899 (died). [University lecturer, university professor]
