Birth/childhood

Born 1730 son of Robert Monro, brother german to John Monro of Kilichoan and Anne Monro.

Career

Also at Edinburgh University - divinity student.

Chaplain 77th Highland Regiment 1757 and served in America for 6 years. Left army about 1762 and entered Church of England, going to England for ordination 1764-1765. Returned to America 1765. Held various missionary and preaching offices, being mainly active New York frontier area. Loyalist - imprisoned 1776. Returned to England 1778 and in 1783 went to Scotland where he resided until his death. Married 3 times and had descendants in America. [Minister, missionary]

Death

Died Edinburgh 30.5.1801.
