Born Scotland before 1730 son of Mr John Middleton, preacher of the Gospel, Edinburgh. [Preacher]

Career

Practised New York. Made one of the first dissections of the human body for purposes of medical instruction in America. One of the founders of the St Andrews Society of New York in 1756. President 1767-1770. [Doctor]

Professor of Physiology and Pathology, King’s College (Columbia University) 1767-1774. Governor of King’s College 1773.
