Probably baptised 6.5.1759 only son of Rev. Duncan M’Ara, minister at Fortingall and Susan Robertson.

Career

Also at Edinburgh University - medical student 1778-1780.

Surgeon H.E.I.C.S. [Honourable East India Company's Service] then in Army - 42nd Regiment (Black Watch) of which he became Lieutenant Colonel. K.C.B. [Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath]. [Soldier, doctor]

Death

Died at Quatre Bras [France] 16.6.1815 [the Battle of Quatre Bras].
