Birth/childhood

Born 4.6.1710 eldest son of George Henry Hay, 8th Earl of Kinnoull and Lady Abigail Harley.

Career

M.P. for Cambridge 1741-1758 and Recorder of that town until his death. Held many high political offices. Succeeded his father in 1758 [as 9th Earl of Kinnoul]. Retired from public life in 1762. [Politician]

Chancellor of the University 22.11.1765-27.12.1787. [St Andrews University]

In 1767 gave £100, which was used to fund Chancellor’s Prizes for the term of his office.

Death

Died Dupplin 27.12.1787. Buried Aberdalgie.
