Studied Edinburgh University - medical student 1838-1840, 1848-1849.

L.R.C.S.E. 1840 when he gave his birthplace as Banffshire.

Assistant Surgeon Army Medical Service 1841 etc. Surgeon General 1874. [Doctor]

Retired on half pay 1880.

Hon. Physician to H. M. the Queen. K.C.B. [Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath] 1897.

Publications

China from a medical point of view in 1860 and 1861, to which is added a chapter on Nagasaki as a sanitarium. (London: John Churchill, 1863)

Death

Died 30.9.1899.
