Born 6.3.1836 son of George Gatty, clerk in Chancery, Felbridge Place and Francis Jenkinson.

Educated Eton.

Career

Educated Cambridge University (Trinity College) - B.A. 1859, M.A. 1862.

Owned estate of Felbridge Place near East Grinstead. Fellow of Linnean, Geological, Geographical and Ray Societies [F.L.S., F.G.S., F.R.G.S., Fellow of the Ray Society]. F.R.S.E. Studied and collected natural history subjects. [Landowner]

Gave funds to build and equip new marine laboratory at St Andrews.

Death

Died 12.12.1903 unmarried at Felbridge Place.
