Served apprenticeship to his father, an ex-navy surgeon in London. Studied London 1794-1795 and occasionally thereafter until 1800. Passed exam at College of Surgeons and was assistant surgeon to Royal Naval hospital Deal for 2 years. Then for 12 years assistant surgeon to Northampton Regiment. [Doctor, surgeon]

Died 16.7.1833 at Calais aged 56.
