Educated Kennoway and Kirkcaldy then apprenticed to John Sang, engineer. Emigrated to Canada 1845. [Engineer]
Civil engineer, Canadian railways. Chancellor, Queens University, Kingston.
President, Royal Society of Canada 1888-1889.
