Birth/childhood

Baptised 17.5.1735 son of Archibald Brown weaver/day labourer, Bunkle, Berwickshire.

Career

Teacher for a time then studied medicine in Edinburgh. Matriculated at Leyden 1740. Developed the Brunonian System- first expressed in his Elementa Medicinae - that much disease was due to debility and not to redundant strength. Taught extramurally in Edinburgh. Moved to London in 1786 and died there 17.10.1788. [Medical student]
