Born 8.2.1814 son of Alexander Brown, weaver, Grange of Conon and Margaret Buick.

Career

Started life as a weaver then became a lawyer’s clerk 1840 - 1857. In Town Clerk’s office, Arbroath 1857 - 1880 (retired).

A self-taught astronomer. Publications.

Bequest to St Andrews University to found bursary for an Arbroath student.

Death

Died 27.7.1893.
