Birth/childhood

Baptised 17.12.1834 son of David Boyter, Dundee and Helen Strachan.

Career

Studied Edinburgh University - medical student 1806 - 1807.

L.R.C.S.E. 19.4.1808.

Surgeon Royal Navy 13.6.1810, but may have been in service before that. While on half pay resided at various times at Meigle, Dundee, Edinburgh, Blairgowrie and Perth. Remained on active list until November, 1850. [Doctor]

Appointed in 1847 to undertake the management and distribution of the national subscription in aid of the destitute Highlanders in the Western Isles and the Highlands. Worked for the Colonial department from 1836 - selected emigrants for New South Wales.

Death

Died 11.12.1850 at Broughty Ferry.
