Born 17.7.1825 at Bungay son of Captain Robert John Barton of H.E.I.Co’s navy [Honourable East India Company's navy] and Eleanor Gilles. [Naval officer]

Career

Studied University College hospital from 1844.

M.R.C.S.Eng. 1847. F.R.C.S.Eng. 1865. [Doctor]

In the service of various steamship companies from 1847.

Was in India and China, where he did some exploring - received medal of R.G.S. Returned to England about 1866 and retired from active practice.

Death

Died in London 4.7.1905.
