Also at Edinburgh University, arts, divinity and medicine - M.D. 1831. [Arts student, divinity student, medical student]

Professor of Botany at Glasgow University 1841 - 1845 and Edinburgh University 1845 - 1879 (retired). [University professor]

F.R.S.E. 1835. Published no extensive original work, but many textbooks.

Death

Died 11.2.1884.
